History

A conscious choice for explicit technological specialisation and for an active stake in the business.

Xume was founded in 2001 as a software consultancy company specialising in Java™ technology and open source software. In the aftermath of the Internet hype and the dotcom bubble, there was consciously opted for a no-nonsense approach and an explicit technological specialisation applied in mainly Internet-related projects.

In view of the rapid development of Java™ technology and open source software, and the mushrooming growth of the Internet, this strategic decision appears to have been a good investment, which holds out considerable promise for the future. Open source software is increasingly accepted as a valid alternative for commercial or closed source software.

As Software Solution Providers, our emphasis has always been on the pragmatic, goal-oriented and cost-efficient way of achieving solutions to the client's concrete requirements. This was partly why, back in 2002, Xume launched the co-sourcing model, as an improvement of the increasingly fashionable outsourcing model in which Xume foresaw a number of fundamental shortcomings.

Gradually, besides consultancy in software development and architecture, expertise was built up in the support of complete IT departments, by offering services like IT management or assisting in the creation of a a Java™ competence center.

In order to meet ever-increasing demand, over the years, Xume has built up a partner network, which it could call on whenever necessary. In addition, the in-house team was reinforced by recruiting people with excellent profiles, always with the aim that they would progress in the long-term to take an active stake in the business.
